Hot Air Balloon watercolor illustration

I decided to show how did I create it. I regret that I didn't shot a video about this process.

First I did the sketch with just a regular pencil,
and when I felt that this is exactly what do I want, I use a Light box  to transfer it to the high quality watercolor. Then I use an ink for the outlines and shades.
I tried many watercolor brands. I have many different brands. Some of them I got because I didn't have money for more expensive brands, some of them were because I "had to have" these brands, and finally I saved money for most desirable by me Sennelier watercolor set of 48 , the watercolor I use is my all time favorite brand. It's a honey based great quality french watercolor. Nothing is better in the world IMHO.

Brushes. I love to use natural brushes for watercolor. For the big areas I use da Vinci Watercolor wash mop size 2 , and the other brushes are Escoda Kolinsky Size 2, Escoda Kolinsky Size 4, Escoda Kolinsky Size 6.
I hate to wait while the watercolor is drying, so sometimes I use a heat tool

This painting took too long because I really wanted to take my time and to enjoy this particular process. This is the biggest size for me yet, and I really would like to continue working in this style among my main whimsical style in acrylics.

My new gouache palette

I've got from my son a gift for a mother day.
Here is how it works in my family: time from the time I am collecting a list of the art supplies I would like to have, and when is a holiday, and my son or husband asking what do I want, I can always go to my amazon wish list :-)
So here we go, I've got my sweet palette box for gouache. I was looking for something like this for a long time, gouache is not very popular media as opposed to watercolor or oil, so I finally finds this great baby! Palette Box

And the gouache I was using today are Caran D'ache Gouache, WN Gouache, and Yarka Gouache. So I populated my little palette with paint, and immediately wanted to try it out before I go to plein air LOL
So here is my quick sketch on just a regular not expensive sketch book.

It was a very hot Summer, an I couldn't walk with Shelby outside. I feel very bad in a high temperatures.... so poor Shelby didn't have any activity.... She got very sad. I decided to fix this situation. I went to the Pet Store an got a pet for My Shelby - a little kitten named Dixie :-)
Now Shelby has her very own cat, she loves Dixie, and so Dixie does.
The play together, they sleep together, they eat from the same plate, and they are never angry on each other!
Well.... I guess now I have one more model to pain/draw :-)

Shelby, Shelby...

She is growing so fast... I couldn't enjoy the time she WAS a puppy... a REAL puppy... She is just 3 months old, but she looks not like a little puppy anymore....

But I still love her :-)
And she is still a great model!
